Calm Country Retreat

Solution: Concrete pavers transform the front entrance and side yard of a contemporary country home.

Nestled in a serene wooded area outside of Hudson, Wis., this contemporary country home got a big upgrade to its outdoor living space with a new entranceway, walkway, patio, and pool. The homeowners selected a hardscape design with County Materials’ pavers in three colors that complement their home’s slate blue siding.

The main patio and pool deck feature Grand VANTAGE PAVERS^® in Majestic. Bordering the patio, a two-tone installation of the smaller, dimensionally compatible VANTAGE PAVERS^® in Exalt and Allure defines the edge. The front entranceway repeats the design choices of the patio for visual unity across the property.

A priority for this project was blending in and complementing the natural surroundings of the home. The pool area sits on a lower elevation than the home’s front entrance, and the sloping side yard is stabilized by a retaining wall made with large boulders. The slate-style surface texture of the VANTAGE PAVERS collection evokes the feeling of natural stone, while providing the long-lasting performance of concrete.

Concrete pavers are well suited to areas with high pedestrian traffic. Their proven strength and durability resists the elements and delivers a beautiful, low-maintenance outdoor space that retains its original appearance for years.

Project Highlights:

This project features smart design choices that minimized waste and installation labor while still achieving stunning results. The use of right angles throughout the patio design minimized the need for cutting pavers. To give the design an overall soft and organic feel, the mulched areas surrounding the pool were installed with curves that follow the yard’s topography.
