Solution: This suburban St. Louis, Missouri, home’s backyard retreat packs a lot of impact into a small space. County Materials supplied several styles of concrete pavers with an assortment of colors and textures, as well as tumbled concrete landscape stones and smooth concrete caps that make up a low privacy wall and a circular fire pit.
Building Elegance from Concrete
The compact backyard of this suburban St. Louis, Missouri, home presented a challenge for the homeowners. They wanted a comfortable outdoor sanctuary from the world, despite the close proximity of their neighbors. They got that and more. A profusion of paths, plants, and pebbles surround a tasteful, refined fire circle made of County Materials concrete landscape products.
Concentric circles of dark and light 4x8 ELEMENTS™ PAVERS mark the outside boundary of the space and surround the central fire pit, while the greater part of the floor is lined with ESSENCE® PAVERS, concrete planks with authentic-looking grain and textures found in weathered wood. A low privacy wall, constructed of Tumbled SUMMIT STONE® LANDSCAPE UNITS and topped with dark Double Sided Smooth Rectangle Caps, wraps around the far section of the circle. At the center of attention sits a graceful hearth built from a Tumbled SUMMIT STONE® Circle Fire Pit Kit and a dark Double Sided Smooth Rectangle Cap that matches the wall caps.
By bringing a creative eye to the diversity of colors, textures, and styles in the broad County Materials landscaping portfolio, the project’s designers were able to dream up a one-of-a-kind backyard sanctuary for grateful homeowners. Pairing the smooth surface and slightly chamfered edges of ELEMENTS PAVERS with the rustic wood textured look and feel of ESSENCE PAVERS may not seem an obvious choice. The result, however, is simply stunning. This small suburban sanctuary is truly illuminating.
